Hi there,
It’s probably one of those features who are so expensive it may not even be worth to “genuinely” certify it, but it’s worth of mention that a water-resistant phone would have a MASSIVELY good reception from all those people that for example like to read their ebook on a beach.
The IP68 grade gives you dust and water protections, up until a 1meter.What do you think about it?
ps: the phone may surely benefit from the fact that it is built with waterproofing in mind, even if the certification is not “paid” and therefore genuine.
April 23, 2020 at 12:47 pm #1064I think this is impossible with a pop up camera…
Or really expensive to developpe.April 25, 2020 at 12:53 pm #1077Yeah it has a popup camera. Its kinda difficult
April 25, 2020 at 10:40 pm #1079Not even by using some sort of O-ring to seal the camera “block” when concealed?
As said, having the phone certified ip68 would anyway cost too much for the project, so even something that just “helps” would be great.April 26, 2020 at 2:36 pm #1088Water protection are very hard to achieve indeed. I think pop up camera will probably not help. We’ll see what we can do when we are more advanced in our discussion with ODM
April 27, 2020 at 7:03 am #1094I remember that during iPhone 4/4S times there were some nano-coating applied onto the internals of your device, making it virtually waterproof.
Something like that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiSTxKkqHTY
May be that’s one possible way to go.April 28, 2020 at 9:14 am #1098That’s interesting. I didn’t knew of that way actually.
It has not became mainstream yet though.
